October 2007: "The Gits Movie" has been invited by The Denver Film Society to screen at Doc Night, hosted by Lisa Kennedy of the Denver Post. It will be screened Thursday December 13th - 7pm, at the Starz Film Center.
September 2007: Congratulations! The film The Gits has been accepted into the 27th Atlantic Film Festival. It will be screened as part of our Music & Image program. This years Festival runs from Thursday, September 13, through Saturday, September 22, 2007, in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
July 26, 2007: THE GITS will be going to Canada! "Greetings from Calgary, Canada, and the Calgary International Film Festival (CIFF). Congratulations! We are very pleased to invite your film THE GITS: A DOCUMENTARY to be a part of our 2007 film festival. February 16, 2007: SxSW announces screening times for "The Gits". The First Screening is OPENING NIGHT! March 9th, 9:45 p.m. at the Alamo Downtown, 409 Colorado St. "The Best Theatre in America" according to Entertainment Weekly. Also Screening March 15th, 4:30pm at the Austin Convention Center, 500 East Cesar Chavez St. SXSW Screenings
January 18, 2007: "THE GITS" IS INVITED TO THE SOUTH BY SOUTHWEST FILM FESTIVAL (SXSW)! We received standing ovations at each one of our screenings in 2005. We were also approached by friends and fans of The Gits who had amazing footage of the band as well as stories that we felt were essential to document the history of this amazing band.
After many years of hard work we have been invited to screen at SXSW this March in Austin, Texas. It is a great honor for us to be invited to a film festival which is considered by many to be in the top ten of all film festivals worldwide.

March 29, 2005 UPDATE: On March 4th "The Gits" a Documentary was accepted as an official selection of the 31st Annual Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF), where it will have its Worldwide Premiere. SIFF runs from May 19th through June 12. The following is an excerpt from the acceptance letter describing the festival:
"SIFF is the largest and most highly attended film festival in the United States with 175,000 attendees expected in 2005 and screens a wide selection of the best new international features and documentaries. The 25-day festival presents over 200 films from over 50 countries. With extensive local, national and international media coverage, the Festival has emerged as the country's most accessible and most highly publicized film event. SIFF is one of 6 North American Film Festivals along with Telluride, Toronto, New York, Sundance and New Directors/New Films in which a film's presentation qualifies it for the prestigious Independent Spirit Awards."
May 24, 2004 UPDATE: Mia Zapata's killer is found guilty and sentenced to more than 36 years in prison - 10 years longer than the standard maximum for felony murder.
